The Computer Science department of Pacific Lutheran University will be hosting their 8th annual high school programming competition at the Morken Center for Learning and Technology on Saturday, February 10, 2018, from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.
Teams of 1-3 students will have a 3 hour period to solve as many coding problems as they can using a programming language of their choice (Java, C#, C++, or Python). Internet access is prohibited during the competition though printed resources such as APIs or old code is allowed. Solved problems will be evaluated by a judge and scored for points with the top three teams accumulating the most points at the end winning the grand prizes. Teams must provide their own ONE computer, able to run code on programs like jGrasp or Eclipse, and respective charger for the competition.
Teams are divided between the Intermediate Division and Advanced Division with groups who have at most participated in one programming contest before and have not placed in the Novice Division and those with more experience or have completed one computer science class in the Advanced Division. The Advanced Division is open to all high school students. There will be three winning teams from each division.

Snacks and pizza will be provided at the event and all team members will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle for prizes totaling up over $500 dollars. Last year's raffle prizes include Amazon Fire Tablets, Raspberry Pi's, and much more (including a very interesting book titled Atypical Girl Geek).
There is an entrance fee of $30 per team or $15 per student, paid at the door.
